Mike Mandel + Larry Sultan / Clatworthy Colorvues Shirt

$ 38.00
Larry Sultan and Mike Mandel first met as MFA students at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1973.  Over the next thirty years, their artistic partnership produced an impressive body of work as well as a lifelong friendship.  Together they created twenty photographic projects, two publications (including the landmark book Evidence), numerous exhibitions, the film JPL, and seven public art commissions.
From 1973 until 1989, Mandel and Sultan worked together on open ended, allusive designs for outdoor advertising billboards under the name Clatworthy Colorvues. These billboards were displayed on more than one hundred sites throughout California and the continental United States.
T shirt comes with a reproduction Clatworthy Colorvues postcard sent from Mike Mandel to Larry Sultan proposing the name of their collaborative company, and a brief explanation about the history of their work
